There has been much speculation about the triangle of land between the Community Centre and Blenheim Drive area which is still owned by Shepway DC. (Details available from Shepway District Council report number C/06/136)

The above mentioned report recommends that the land is sold to Edinburgh Land Estates Ltd subject to the purchaser entering into shared parking agreement with the Community Centre.

The purchaser is required to obtain planning permisison permitting development of the land but this will exclude a retail store, church or public house.

It appears that this is not yet a done deal. The land has been difficult to sell because of the shared parking requirement hence the seemingly low price of £150,000.

No information is given as what planning permission might be sought other than the above exclusions.

I personally would have liked to see consideration given to a public footpath connection between the Community centre and Blenheim drive area.

The report states that 50% per cent of the proceeds should be earmarked for future investment in appropriate property, Whilst there is no indication of any kind of where that property might be located one would hope that this could be a Hawkinge community property.
