111mph through roadworks driver banned for 6 weeks

A motorist from Folkestone has been fined and banned from driving by Ashford Magistrates Court after he was photographed speeding through roadworks.

The driver admitted travelling at 111mph on January 12 in the temporary 50mph speed limit on the M20 at junction 10 in Ashford.

He was fined £350, ordered to pay court costs of £35 and disqualified from driving for 42 days.

A spokesman for the Kent and Medway Safety Camera Partnership said that the temporary 50mph limit was there for the safety of the workforce and motorists during roadworks and it was a blatant disregard for people’s safety and the law. This type of driving is outrageous and will not be tolerated by the partnership.
