News has just emerged today (7 February) of a letter bomb sent to a man at his home in Folkestone at the weekend.

It is being investigated as part of police inquiries into three similar incidents in London, Berkshire and Swansea.

Kent Police said a 53-year-old man suffered minor injuries when he opened the letter on Saturday. He was taken to the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford and was discharged later.

"Detectives are currently making inquiries to determine who sent the letter and why," a spokeswoman said.

"Police are examining any similarities between the incidents but at this stage we cannot say whether any of them are linked."

A woman was hurt in a small explosion at an office building in central London on Monday. Two people received minor injuries when an item of mail ignited at an accountancy firm in Wokingham, Berkshire, on Tuesday. On Wednesday the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) in Swansea was targeted.
