A 76 year old man from India has developed a pair of shoes to walk across the English Channel.

Dwarka Prasad Chaurasiya, 76, from Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh, is confident enough to walk across the English Channel with the help of his self-fabricated shoes, which let him walk on water. Chaurasiya’s water-walking shoes are made of thermocol.

The shoes, which provide sufficient buoyancy and manoeuvrability, are three feet long, 10inches wide and 8 inches thick.

India's National Innovation Foundation’s (NIF) has seen many unusual inventions from a "herbal" bulletproof jacket to an umbrella with a water sprayer, thermometer and a siren which prevents heatstroke.

NIF has so far documented over 65,000 ideas.
