Folkestone Sports Centre Trust scooped a £57,403 slice of good cause cash from the Big Lottery Fund's regional People's Millions contest.

TV viewers voted for the fun exercise project to win the award after a head-to-head contest for community votes broadcast on Tuesday on ITV Meridian South East regional news.

The Cool 2B Fit project will use the money to encourage young people to be more active through fun exercise. Around 500 people will benefit from a fully inclusive dedicated toboggan slope and a young people's gym and the group would also start an after school club for children who do not take part in school sports.

Each night between November 26 and 29, two projects from the ITV Meridian South East region went head-to-head battle to secure the most public votes and win a Big Lottery Fund award of up to £80,000.

The Folkestone Sports Centre had been competing against another Folkestone project, the Brabner Close Park Redevelopment promoted by Folkestone East Youth Council.
