Passengers left 'stranded' as Hawkinge bus services are slashed

Timetable changes to Stagecoach buses, which started today have upset some Hawkinge residents who claim they could be 'stranded' in the village centre.

Many of the direct services from Millfield have been axed and passengers boarding the bus there will have to catch a connecting service in the village centre which could leave them waiting for 20 minutes.

A Stagecoach spokesman defended the company's changes saying that it had increased the number of services running through the village as a whole, but it had cut the direct routes from Millfield.

He apologised for any upset caused and said: "Unfortunately, there will be occasions where some of our commuters will have to wait for connecting buses."
