A talented team from Churchill Primary School won all their games in the recent Shepway Basketball Tournament at the Harvey Grammar School of Sport.

They will now go forward to represent Shepway in the County Games.

The youngsters are coached by Don Veale, Jean Bean and the England Women's Rugby captain Catherine Spencer, who was a former FSG school basketball player.

There are now nine basketball teams trained in Hawkinge but nowhere to play out of school. It is hoped the parish council will change their minds and refurbish the Spitfire Leisuredome to give local youngsters a venue for the sport.
