Today's auction (14 December) of the land at Siskin Close, Hawkinge has failed to sell after the bidding reached just £1.8m, some £400,000 short of the £2.2 to £2.5m guide price.

Lot 62 at the Clive Emson auction held at the Ramada Hotel at Hollingbourne near Maidstone was listed as 4.63 acres, of which almost 3 acres has outline planning permission for residential development.

In January 2007 the trustees of the Hawkinge Activities and Adventure Centre Limited who own the land were granted outline planning for an area near Siskin Close.

In June they reached and agreement with Shepway District Council to buy the covenants which would allow the building of homes on the land.
