Could I trust council to co-opt new members?

Have your say!

Dear Editor,

I think it is somewhat embarrassing, but nonetheless helpful, that our councillors should have to be reminded of the standards we expect from them by the chairman of another local council.

I should particularly like to call attention to the paragraphs in his letter marked "Honesty and Integrity" and "duty to uphold the law".

If certain members had the moral strength when looking back at some of their past actions, I hope we should not now be in this mess.

And it is because we are in this mess that I would like to support the idea of elections rather than co-options. Could I really trust a council to co-opt new members of integrity?

Yours sincerely,

Hawk
