Aviation expert attacks Shepway airport plans

Aviation consultant Malcolm Spaven claims information given by Lydd Airport over potential noise and flight paths is misleading.

Mr Spaven challenged parts of the key information provided by the airport in its Supplementary Environmental Information for the current planning applications.

In his report, he argues that the assumed flight paths, used as the basis for all of the noise assessments in support of the two planning applications, are incorrect in almost every respect.

He also maintains that Lydd airport is claiming regular commercial service use of the airport by aircraft types which have rarely, if ever, used the airport.

A planning application for a 444m extension to its runway and a new terminal building was submitted by the airport in December 2006.
