Re: We did propose Cllr Smith is removed from finance committee

First, I must thank Mrs James for her reply. The information it contains was not conveyed in the initial Gazette report, but her reply leads me to the conclusion that our council may contain a number of members who lack moral fibre.

Those who voted against the original motion must, it seems, condone what has been shown to be illegal.

This boils down to a question of trust, and I don't see how anyone could have any trust in a councillor who has been shown to have been guilty of financial misconduct, especially when he is a member of a financial committee.

I sincerely hope that Mrs James and Mr Avery will reconsider their positions and withdraw their resignations. We must have some people on the council who hold principles of correct behaviour, and in whom we are able to place our trust completely to manage parish affairs. Councillor Smith should perhaps question his own conscience, and then act like Sir Stafford Cripps.
