May I just correct an inaccuracy in your story.

I did not resign my seat at the Council meeting on 10th
October. I resigned in writing to the Clerk on Monday 15th, but was asked to
think things over. I did this, and then confirmed my resignation on Tuesday
16th.
After the meeting I had hoped that simply resigning from the finance committee
would be enough, but it soon became clear to me that my position on this council
was going to be pretty untenable. It is a great shame that things have come to
this.
