Close on the heels of the resignation of Keven Avery from the parish council, another councillor has decided enough is enough and thrown in the towel.

Vice Chairman of Hawkinge Parish Council, Jean James formally resigned this morning (16 October).

Parish council chairman David Callahan said that he understood Mrs James was critical of the behaviour of some councillors and she felt it was damaging for the village.

Cllr Callahan said:  "With this second resignation, we should ask, what are we doing wrong?

"We need to digest this before we take any measures. It is a time for reflection."

The clerk will be notifying the returning officer at Shepway District Council to declare two Casual Vacancies on the parish council.
