A260 answer is so simple

Have your say!

Dear Editor,

Re: A good time for KCC to review A260 safety

I wholeheartedly support Treemendos.

The recently proposed traffic management scheme is one borne out of a committee, and will cost a lot of money where the achievement of the desired outcome is always doubtful.

Would it not be simpler ( and therefore cheaper) just to alter the signs on the roundabouts to the north and south of the village (A 260 just north of the speed camera and at the bottom of White Horse Hill respectively) to show that the through route is via Spitfire Way. Perhaps it would even be in order to indicate "Village Only (No through route)" for the direction to the village centre. It would even be possible to put a warning on these signs to the effect that it is a new layout and therefore not shown on satellite navigations systems - I have seen similar signs elsewhere.

The signs could be altered and the effects measured before we get involved in elaborate and costly schemes.

Grumpily as ever,

Lazarus
