After the Christmas and New Year Festivities I must say it is always nice to get back to some sort of normality and this year as our first meeting was held on the 2nd of January it was back to normal with a vengeance.

The meeting started with Jerusalem then birthday greetings were given to Mesdames Philcox and Quinn. The business of the day included arranging a date for those ladies who wished to help overhaul old hand sewing machines for a scheme called “Tools for Self Reliance”. We are twinning this with another scheme, “Knit a River”, knitting blue 15cm squares together and joining them, to make a river of blue. Helping to raise awareness of the tens of millions of people all over the world who are without fresh water.

Then a great time was had by all with our Beetle Drive, our social time followed with a wonderful array of food supplied by all who attended and the raffle was drawn. Linda Barnes was declared winner or this month’s competition - a beetle in any medium.

The meeting closed with a reminder that the next meeting will be held on the 6th of February and the speaker will be Mr. Roger Rawlings with a very interesting subject “Coast Watch”

Should any lady wish to learn more about our very friendly club please contact our secretary Christine Allard on 863146 or myself on 891420.
