LIB DEM VOTED TO CLOSE SCHOOL

Dear Ed,

Like, I am sure, everyone else, I was delighted to see that common sense has prevailed in that the KCC has decided not to close Selsted School.

This decision was due in no small part to the tremendous efforts locally, not least by the Save Selsted School Action Group, which conducted a magnificent professional campaign,  and our local MP, Michael Howard.  Swingfield Parish Council, of which I am a member, strongly opposed the closure.

I note the comments made by "Lightning" on this matter.

The Shepway Liberal Democrats have declared in no uncertain terms that they welcome the decision to keep Selsted School open. I am delighted to hear this but I am a little bit confused as to why that enthusiasm did not filter up to their sole representative who was present at the SOAB meeting and who voted in favour of closing the school.
