HIJACKING SELSTED VICTORY DEMEANS COUNCILLORS

Dear Ed,

Re: KCC should be ashamed

I trust this is a non-political web site and I write as someone with no political affiliation.

The decision to reprieve our local schools is surely a victory for common sense which has been driven by fantastic efforts by very many individuals, most I suspect are like me with no particular political leanings. The individuals mentioned in the letter recently posted have every right to be proud of their involvement but why, oh why, turn a great moment into a political opportunity?

So many people, of various political interests, have fought for this issue. I understand, for example, that Mr Howard called the KCC 'liars' to their faces. I am sure that many who wrote in to the KCC did similar and probably vote for different parties.

What is clear is that the collective will of local people overcame the ill-conceived, illogical, and frankly untruthful position of the KCC Education Department. This is to be greatly celebrated by all. For an attempt to be made to hijack it in the name of a Lib-Dem victory demeans the councillors who claim it as their 'Party's' victory and perhaps reveals the true motives behind their apparently enthusiastic support.

How sad is that?

Lightning
