Cyclists should not block emergency vehicles

CYCLISTS SHOULD NOT BLOCK EMERGENCY VEHICLES

A number of roads within Shepway and some in Dover are going to be within Stage 5 of the Tour of Britain cycle race o­n Saturday, 2 September.

There are some roads that will be closed for up to eight hours but despite the road closures emergency services will still be able to get through.

The  route for the 5th stage of the race will start in Rochester, go down to Paddock Wood, Goudhurst, Ham Street through Military Road Hythe, up Blackhouse Hill to Beachborough roundabout along A20 to Newington turn, through Newington and Peene, Hill Road, Danton Lane, Crete Road West cross over the A260 to Crete Road East through Capel to Dover. 

It will then pass through Lydden, Swingfield, Densole, Lyminge, Longage Hill in Rhodes Minnis and to the finish in Canterbury.

It is understood that the road closures could take place either between 6.00am to 2.00pm or from 2.00pm to 6.00pm.
