PC JET-SKI ON COAST BEAT...

 A crime-fighting jet-ski is the latest weapon in Kent Police's armoury to fight crime.

Officers will use the high speed craft to watch the county's coastline and tackle anti-social behaviour at sea from Romney Marsh and Shepway to the North  Kent coast.

Anyone who causes alarm or distress face can expect an £80 penalty notice, while repeat offenders could receive an ASBO.

The two-man jet-ski in Kent Police livery which was launched today (13 August), can be driven by o­ne officer while another rides pillion ready to gather evidence.

A Kent Police spokesman said officers were often called to deal with cases of arson at beach huts, pier jumping and craft breaking speed limits.

Officers from the marine team will be checking power craft to ensure they are safe and have not been stolen.
