SPITFIRE GROUNDED FOR DOVER SHOW...

A flypast by World War II aircraft which was part of the celebrations to mark the 400th anniversary of Dover Harbour Board has been cancelled because of high winds at Manston where the planes are based.

The Battle of Britain memorial flypast today (12 August) was to be part of a weekend of events for Dover Regatta.

It is hoped the Spitfire, Hurricane and Lancaster bomber will be able to take part in the Regatta on Sunday instead, when large crowds are expected for the display by the Red Arrows.
