FOOTBALL BRINGS VILLAGES TOGETHER...

Four local teams of youngsters battled it out at the first  football tournament organised by local police and village wardens on Thursday (20 July).

Teams from Lyminge, Capel le Ferne, Etchinghill and Hawkinge competed on the play area at Blenheim Drive in Hawkinge

Local police also put on their boots to play but were barred from competing for the prestigious cup although they did have a  kick around  with the youngsters.

Kent County councillor Susan Carey gave a grant of  £800 from her KCC member fund for the team strips and Lidl in Hawkinge donated oranges and drinks.

Etchinghill carried off the cup but with plans to run the competition on a regular basis, the other teams will be keen to get their hands on the trophy.

Prizes were presented by top cop Chief Superintendent Steve Harris.
