HOSPITAL NOT FIT FOR MODERN CARE

Dover residents who are fighting against the possible closure of  Buckland Hospital  were shocked when the leader of the District Council was reported as saying the town's hospital building was not fit for modern care.

Councillor Paul Watkins said people treated at the former Victorian workkhouse would be better served with more modern premises at the same site or somewhere else.

The East Kent Primary Care Trust (PCT) is carrying out a public consultation into health services and said the building did have structural problems.
