The high speed railink will bring more jobs and help regenerate the town claims Kent County Council Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Chairman of Dover Pride Graham Gibbens.

He welcomed the news that the Channel Tunnel Rail Link can extend to Dover's port.

Cllr Gibbons said: "The fast trains that will link London to Canterbury and Folkestone in o­ne hour in 2009 along with the planned completion of the east Kent access road now that we have secured the funding will open up the area to prospective investors.

"They have the potential to bring the quality jobs that are so much needed across the area.We want to regenerate areas of Kent, especially on the east Kent coast, in such a way that will make people want to come and live, work in and enjoy our special county. Securing the regeneration of east Kent is a vital part of developing Kent's future."
