FOLKESTONE TORIES SLAMMED OVER HOWARD SUCCESSOR

Folkestone tories are being attacked over their choice of candidate to replace Michael Howard.

Labour have today claimed David Cameron's efforts to get more women and ethnic minority Conservative MPs were failing.

The so called A list of candidates, which is made up 50% women, was set up to encourage local constituency associations to choose a more diverse range of candidates.

Tories in Folkestone and Hythe, last night (14 July) chose advertising executive Damian Collins over two women to fight the seat.

Labour chairman Hazel Blears claimed that picking Mr Collins over fellow A list candidates Laura Sandys and Harriet Baldwin showed that Mr Cameron's approach was failing.
