DOVER GETS HIGH SPEED RAIL LINK

Transport Minister Steve Ladyman MP will today (14 July) announce that Dover is to get a high speed rail service.

The journey time to London will be cut to just 70 minutes, a saving of 40 minutes.

Problems over the width of the Shakespeare tunnel have now been resolved and the track is to be moved nearer the centre of the tunnel.

Dover is scheduled  to get the high speed Javelin trains in 2009.
