Who really cares about topless councillors...

Hawkinge councillor and local personality Joan Brisley will be pulling the first pint at the Mayfly Pub at Monday's opening of the long awaited watering hole. Hopefully this will help improve the integration of the newbies and the anti-airfield development lobby.

When I was a lad  'risk management' was called common sense. It's such shame some people seem to think they need to crusade to save us from ourselves. I  have had enough of certain councillors deciding for instance,  I can't walk across an uneven car park. Whatever did people do before tarmacadam? Thanks for your concern but no thanks, I do my own risk assessments, from the moment I wake up to the time I go to bed. 

Last week the Little Britain star David Walliams swam the Channel in just 10 and a half hours, raising nearly half a million quid for Sport Relief. I'm no fan of the show but Little Britain to France was a fantastic episode.

I was puzzled to read in this weeks top selling Folkestone local, a story which unravelled the so called mystery of whether former New Romney Mayor Cllr Carole Waters was ever a topless model. The story which turned out to be a load of tabloid tosh did however leave me with one unanswered question: "Who cares?"

A spokeswoman for Jacksons, reporting on the split gas main close to the Churchill School was reported in the Folkestone Herald as saying "it was a minor incident". Maybe it was, but for some of the children that had to be evacuated from the KidEase nursery and the school, it certainly didn't appear that way to some of them.
