HAWKINGE CRIME UPDATE 

Two masked robbers threatened a member of staff at the Hawkinge Cricket Club on the night of 31 May/ 1 June and escaped with cash. The member of staff was unhurt.

A property in Barnhurst Lane, Hawkinge was burgled between 12 noon and 11.45pm on 5 June;  the owners report that when they left the property they noticed two people wearing hoodies nearby.

Between 6.00pm 5 June and 8.00am the following morning there was  burglary in Canterbury Road, Hawkinge. Again the owners reported seeing two people wearing hoodies as they left.

Between 3.20pm and 4.20pm also on 5 June burglars failed to gain entry  to a property in Mill Lane, Hawkinge.

And on 5 June, some time after 1.30pm, Hawkinge Primary School was broken into with forced entry to the offices. The school suffered extensive damage.

Police wish to speak with two people wearing hoodies who where seen in the area of two of the incidents.

PC Trevor Moody is warning that motorcyclists riding on private  land behind the Battle of Britain Museum could face a section 59 notice being served on them. Under the law motorcycles can be confiscated and destroyed.

PC Moody said: " Although we have just witnessed a spate of crimes, the figures show a fall of 28% over the same period last year.

"I would like to remind everyone to report anything suspicious to me immediately, no matter how silly you may think it is".
