MARKS & SPENCER HAS LET US DOWN

Dear Ed,

Local traders furious with the recent closure of  Marks & Spencer have taken to the web to voice their criticism using M&S official logos and slogans.

They have deserted Folkestone in its hour of need. Their humiliating departure included putting white plastic screens to cover the entire length of the store's entrance and an ominous sign saying the nearest store is Canterbury, despite their being a store 5 miles away in Dover.

Does this mean Dover's store is next to go?

As a small trader I am fed up with large multiples turning our town centres into identikit clones and then leaving the town in the lurch when they think a faster buck can be made from the out of town shopping centres
