SUSAN FAILS IN HER WESTMINSTER BID

Shepway and Kent County Councillor Susan Carey has failed in her bid to become the prospective parliamentary candidate for Michael Howard's constituency of Folkestone and Hythe.

Mr Howard has announced he will be standing down at the next General Election.

Susan was up against candidates from Tory leader David Cameron's so called 'A' list . There are now just six going through to the next round which will then decide on the four who will go forward to the final selection.

Cllr. Carey was philosophical , saying that she was disappointed, but at least had the chance to be interviewed.

The names of the final six are being kept under wraps, but some political commentators consider that the former Conservative advisor Priti Patel is in with a good chance.
