KCC SHOULD PREPARE FOR A ROUGH RIDE OVER SELSTED PLANS

After Kent County Council (KCC) postponed the public meeting scheduled for 14 June, the crucial meeting  over the possible closure of Selsted Church of England Primary School is now to be staged next week 28 June at the Selsted Community Hall.

There is fierce opposition to the proposals put forward by KCC Area Education Officer David Adams and the KCC panel should be preparing themselves for a rough ride.

At a recent public meeting called by Swingfield Parish Council, it was standing room only as 120 parents and supporters showed their support for the 70 children who could be displaced should the proposals be carried.

The Save Selsted School Action Group (SSSAG) have been working tirelessly together with Swingfield Parish Council who, under the guidance of their Chairman Cllr. Colin Tearle have been preparing the case to keep the school open.

Folkestone and Hythe MP Michael Howard has also backed the protestors saying that the proposals put forward by KCC were 'half baked and not thought through'.

Costas Sotoriou Chairman of (SSSAG) and Cllr Colin Tearle are urging a everyone to attend the meeting.
