SEARCHING FOR JOHN WHICKHAM

Does anyone in the Kent area know a John Whickham.

John Whickham was a boy soldier from the age of 16 then went into the mans service from the age of 18 joining the 1st Battalion Gloustershire Regiment serving in Aden, Kenya, Bahrain, Cyprus and then going to Germany.

He bought himself out of the army after serving approximately 6 years at this time he was stationed in Dover.

The time I met him was 1959 when I was posted to Germany where we became friends and he invited me to go and stay for the weekend at his parents home .

The REME people who were with him at this time were Sgt McEwan, Cpl Chisman, Jim Bayliss, Chalkey White, and Barry Dowthwaite.

He was a vehicle mechanic in the army, and when he was demobbed I do believe he went to work in a garage.

From then o­n we lost touch and I as demobbed in June 1960. He was a boy soldier and then went into the REME leaving the Army in 1959.

His home address was 110 Woodside, Wigmore, Gillingham.

I have looked in the phone directory but had no luck, I would really like some information if possible.
