TRUSTEE ADMITS EMBARRASSMENT OVER COMMUNITY CENTRE

Hawkinge Community Centre trustee Cllr. George Hodgson admitted at Wednesday's Parish Council meeting (14 June)  he was embarrassed that the Centre's Annual General Meeting which should be held in May had not taken place and no date had yet been fixed.

The meeting should be held in May or as soon as practicable thereafter according to the Charity's constitution.

The Executive Committee have to give three weeks notice of calling a meeting to all members of the Charity, so it would mean a meeting could not take place until 6 July at the very earliest.

If any Hawkinge villagers wish to be nominated for election to the committee an application in writing must  be in the hands of the secretary of the Executive Committee at least 14 days before the AGM.

When nominations exceed vacancies, there will be an election by ballot.
