Hawkinge Acrise and Paddlesworth WI

HAWKINGE ACRISE  & PADDLESWORTH WI - JUNE 2006

There was a packed hall, as usual, for this month's meeting. June Moore was the only member celebrating her birthday so was joined at the birthday table by other members.

We were entertained by Lt Col Fairclough from the Salvation Army, who gave a very interesting and sometimes sad talk about searching for missing family members. Some people had lost touch for many years but  the Salvation Army were happy to re-unite them. It was a very interesting talk and members were enthralled at his revelations.

Craft club meet as usual, the walk this month is around Kearsney Abbey and Crabble Corn Mill for lunch, a favourite of the walking group.

The trip to Peasmarsh is fully booked, but there are a few seats available for the trip to St Paul's Cathedral on September 20th, contact 01303 893858 if you require seats. A trip to Boulogne has been organised for August 10th.

The top Team quiz did the best they could, and finished 5th. they had  good support from other members.

The competition for a photo of self when young, proved to be very popular, 24 entries. Marion Bennet won the prize for guessing most people, not very easy as we have all changed a lot. After the talk and tea Nora Cole had organised a quiz which was won jointly by Margaret Wood and Lesley Reed. Members were then reminded that next month we have a garden party at Nora's lovely home.

Lifts will be available from the village hall at 1.30pm the competition will be for a posy of flowers. All we need is lovely weather, unfortunately if it is raining it will have to be at the village hall as usual.

If you want to come along to this friendly club you will be assured of a warm welcome, or contact the President on 01303 891734 or Assistant Secretary 01303893858
