PENSIONER JAILED OVER COUNCIL TAX

A 74 year old pensioner from Dover has been jailed for failing to pay his council tax.

George Frost, 74, who lives in Beaufoy Road in the town was sent to prison for 23 days by magistrates for failing to pay £991.41 in arrears which date back to 2001.

He was given a suspended sentence last August, and the court ruled o­n Monday he had wilfully refused to pay the tax.
