This Dinner ended a terrific season with many new members boosting our membership to 81, which also means a change of venue for next season due to the increase and packed hall! Although we hear of some other Camera Clubs folding or struggling to keep up membership, we have increased ours by 50% this year – mainly due to the digital technology.
We have won three major Batles this year:- these being the
Annual Eurotunnel Trophy Battle with Gateway, Deal and Canterbury Camera Clubs. The 11 way Malling Shield Battle of the Slides between Sittingbourne, Sevenoaks, Invicta, Reflex, Staplehurst, Malling, Gravesend, Parkwood, Tovil, Bexleyheath and ourselves, and the 4-way Battle with Gateway, Tovil and Deal Camera Clubs.
For the first time we held our Annual Exhibition of Photographs on digital disc, which was sent to America to be judged by Barbara Miller FPSA PPSA EFIAP. a top photographer, and affiliated to the Photographic Society of America (P.S.A.) the American equivalent of our Photographic Alliance of Great Britain.
Many of the above winning photographs, including the Exhibition, can be seen on our website at www.folkestonecameraclub.co.uk along with many Links to Photography related and other Shops
Next season Folkestone Camera Club celebrates it’s centenary as it has been running since 1906 with just two short breaks for the two world wars.
The A.G.M. will be held in July and we hope all our members will attend.
The new season commences in September, at the new venue, St. Georges Church, Shorncliffe Road, Folkestone at 7.45 p.m. Further information can be found on our website or telephone Jenny Barraclough (Press Officer) 01303 245399.
