Declined invitation to school meeting

DECLINED INVITATION TO SCHOOL MEETING

Dear Ed,

The last public meeting I went to organised by the Area Education Office was over the building of Churchill School and its relationship with the existing Hawkinge School.

It was well attended and most present were of one opinion, except those on the top table.

Needless to say the overwhelming view of the public present did not prevail and most left that meeting thinking what a waste of time that had been.

Yes, the education officials and Councillors had heard what had been said but none were listening. Many think the same will happen again on the 14th June if closure is recommended, so well done to Mr.Tearle for giving people the chance to air their views early in order to assist a more informed debate.

How inappropriate that our own County Councillor Susan Carey, has declined the invitation to attend, after all, isn`t she in charge of school closures.

I do hope she`s not `ducking` the issue.
