HAWKINGE MUSEUM IS JUST THE TICKET

The Battle of Britain Museum in Hawkinge will be greeting bus enthusiasts from across the country in an event to mark the 90th anniversary of the Folkestone Bus Company.

Vintage bus fans are expected to join Shepway residents for nostalgic rides around the town in a fleet of historic vehicles.

Seven buses built from the 1950s to the 1970s will leave from Folkestone Bus Station today (17 April) on routes to Cheriton and Hythe, and Hawkinge.

They will be taking passengers to the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway and the Battle of Britain Museum.

East Kent Road Car Company, formed in 1916, was taken over in 1993 by Stagecoach and the company still runs daily services based on the original routes.
