FOLKESTONE CAMERA CLUB

Monday 20th March was our 5th slide competition of the season when our members learn from the judges comments, tips, advice and experience.

Each member may enter a maximum of two slides in their chosen group.   Our judge was  Dr. Peter Lewis LRPS.a member of St. Mary’s Bay Camera Club, a very experienced photographer and regular visitor to our club.. His results (out of 20) were:-

Slide entries are decreasing with the increase of digital workers within the club, which is why we have introduced the Digital Image Competition.  All the above with 20 marks can be viewed o­n our website.

On Tiesday 21st March we had our monthly Practical Evening where 29 members came along to practice with the studio lighting with three models.  They also had the opportunity of talking to the more experienced members to ask questions and advice etc.  Help with Photoshop was shown o­n a laptop computer and mounting prints ready for competition entries was also shown.

On the 13th March we had the Annual Eurotunnel Trophy Battle with Gateway, Deal and Canterbury Camera Clubs.  This was a very enjoyable evening and the results as given by our Judge Mr Keith Evans FRPS  DPAGB were  Canterbury 189 points, Deal 191 points, Gateway 204 points and Folkestone 209 points.  Naturally we are thrilled to have won the trophy this year.

Next week the LEN CHARLES CUP.competition will be held where members present a 12 minute presentation in competition, this evening the members will have the opportunity to become judge, and the following week 3rd April the PRINT COMPETITION No.5 will be held with our judge being Sue Flood DPAGB..
