PASSENGER FLIGHTS RETURN TO MANSTON

Passenger flights are to return to Kent International Airport for the first time since the demise of low-cost airline EUJet.

The airport’s owners Infratil has said weekly flights will be taking off later this year to Faro, in Portugal's popular Algarve region, and Barcelona that will service the Costa Brava.

Flights will be operated by holiday company Kent Escapes and operate every Thursday from May 25 until October 26.

Prices start from £309 for seven nights all inclusive hotel accommodation in Costa Brava, and £239 for seven nights self-catering in the Algarve.

The return of passenger flights to Kent International Airport draws a line under the recent, rocky past for the facilities at Manston.

EUJet’s collapse in the middle of last year left many thousands of passengers stranded across Europe and led to the sale of the airport itself to new owners Infratil.

And now its new owners hope the flights will bring better times for the airport.

Phill Vann, general manager of the airport, said: “I am delighted that Kent Escapes will bring regular passenger services to Kent International Airport over the summer and we hope they will be the first of many operators to use the excellent facilities we have here.�
