MUD BATH IS A WINNER

By Cyril Trice

With the Hawkinge U15 match being called off due to the Eythorne Rovers pitch being waterlogged, the only game played this weekend was the Hawkinge home match against Nailbox in the league cup quarter final.

It was heavy going for both teams playing on a pitch that was close to being called off due to the boggy conditions.

But Hawkinge got stuck in and went into an early lead before Nailbox found their webbed feet and hit back before full time to get score an equaliser.

Into extra time and in an evenly matched mud bath,  it was James Cross who scored the winner for Hawkinge just before the final whistle.
