SEAFRONT SAILS FORTH TOWARDS ICONIC BLUEPRINT

The Reichstag in Berlin

A deal signed between former Saga boss Roger De Haan and businessman Jimmy Godden could give Folkestone seafront an iconic development designed by the man who was responsible for the Reichstag, the new German Parliament in Berlin, Canary Wharf Station and London's Millennium footbridge.

The two men have reached a compromise agreement which should guarantee an impressive development in the harbour area.

Contracts have been exchanged and Trent Development, which had outline planning permission for the Rotunda site, pulled out completely last week.

All parties are bound by a confidentiality clause and are unable to comment, but it has been reported that it is understood Mr Godden accepted an offer involving cash plus property acquisition and that Mr Godden has also released properties which will form part of the iconic master plan  created by the world famous architect Sir Norman Foster.
