WHY WASN'T THE CROSSING PUT IN WHEN THE ROAD WAS BUILT?

Dear Ed,

Re: Road closure causes long queues (Spitfire Way roadworks 21 November)

Why wasn't this job done to schedule?

All the signs stated that it would be reopened at 1700hrs, so where did it go wrong, and did anyone see any Police out and about assisting with the flow of the traffic? If not why not?

Maybe someone on the Parish Council ought to be asking a few questions. We all pay our taxes and would like some answers.

Surely with Aerodrome road access into the West part of the village being disrupted at the moment, whoever plans these sort of 'works' should maybe complete one 'job' before starting another.

This leads onto the next question as to why this crossing wasn't put in when the road was built, bearing in mind the planners must have a known a school was earmarked for the area. How much extra money has this cost?

With a highly populated area that Spitfire Way serves these works should have been carried out over a weekend 24 hours a day so to avoid traffic chaos like we had to endure today.
