SASHA TAKES EUROPE BY STORM

Local beauty Sasha Buckingham has taken the crown for the coveted title of Miss Euroregion, after beating off stiff competition from over 40 contestants from across Europe and the UK. She is the first ever English contestant to hold the title. 

Sasha, a former Miss Folkestone not only became Miss Euroregion, but also won the top prize for best dancer.  

The title of 1st Dauphine went to former Miss Deal and Kingsdown Regatta Queen and Dover Grammar school pupil Danielle Chatterton.

The final which was held at the Bellewaerde Theme Park at Ypres in Belgium was broadcast on Belgium TV.

Team England thought the night could not get any better, but as they took to the floor in their eye catching costumes complete with bustles and chaps the room erupted with applause. The dance routine choreographed by Louise Collins, won the trophy for best team dance. 

A member of the Franze Academy at Hawkinge Village Hall,  Sasha was delighted with her success: “I still feel a little dumbstruck, but I am really excited and delighted about how well the whole team have done, it has been such a fantastic experience for us all, and the icing on the cake was winning the team dance.

"That is something we have all worked towards and we really did perform well on the night and the cheers from the audience really did spur us on, it was a fantastic feeling, in fact when we all came off stage we all wanted to go back on and dance again.

"Both Danielle and I will do our best to be good role models and ambassadors for England in Europe and we are really looking forward to a fantastic year. "

Team England is Vicky Chapman, Jodie Peerce, Danielle Chatterton, Cara Aldred  from the Deal area, Catherine Thomas, Siobhan Hustler, Emma Finch, Kirsty Hunt and Sasha Buckingham from Folkestone, Sam Aaron from the Isle of Sheppey, Annika Wicken and Samantha Rowles from Ashford.
