LOCAL MAN LINES UP HUGE TAGGART FANS' MEETING

A Folkestone man is behind a huge meeting of fans paying homage to the TV show Taggart.

Fans of the show from around the world, including Australia, Poland and the Netherlands, will flock to Glasgow next month to take part in the annual convention.

Now in its 22nd year, the show has been going strong since the late Mark McManus made the role of the grizzled sleuth famous.

The convention has been organised by Jackie Pope, a customs officer from Folkestone who founded the Taggart fan club in June last year.

The convention takes place at The National Piping Centre in Glasgow on October 19.

One of Scottish Television’s most successful exports, the series is shown in 56 countries, including Brazil, Thailand and Australia.
