VICTORY FOR PETER AFTER A YEAR OF TOIL

Hawkinge Parish and District Councillor Peter Smith has launched his unique one eighth scale model of HMS Victory at Folkestone Harbour.

The Shepway co-ordinator of the Sea Britain Festival has been constructing the 25ft long model of Nelson's Flagship in the back garden of his Daniels Terrace home in Hawkinge  for nearly a year.

Peter would like to see the ship have a permanent place in the Harbour as a reminder of the town's links with Admiral Lord Nelson.

Trafalgar Weekend to celebrate the bicentenary of the battle takes place on 22 to 23 October.
