CLOCK TICKING ON ROCK'N'ROLL

Rock'n'Roll club dancing could soon cease if the Hawkinge Community centre fail to satisfy the Shepway Licencing Committee that adequate sound proofing of the hall is in place.

The licence for entertainment is issued by Shepway District Council, but at the hearing last night (10 August) the committee rejected their application. They have given the centre six weeks to sound proof the venue or all entertainment will cease.

Pete Bradley's Rock'n'Roll club regularly use the hall and it would be a financial blow to the Centre if they were forced to move elsewhere.

Chairman of the Community Centre John Heasman was confident that the hall would be able to continue with the entertainment events. He said: " I am certain we will be able to satisfy the objections and Shepway Council will be granting our licence within six weeks."
