Water company pressure for customer meters

WATER COMPANY PRESSURE FOR CUSTOMER  METERS

After the second driest winter in 100 years, water companies in the south of England are considering emergency measures to preserve supplies.

The Folkestone and Dover Water company have made an application to the Environment Agency for permission to make customers have water meters installed.

Southern Water, which has already imposed a hosepipe ban in some areas has applied for a drought order to allow it to reduce the flow of water into rivers.

The Company's Weir Wood reservoir in Sussex is less than half full.
