RESIDENTS FIGHTING BACK OVER PROPOSED LICENSING HOURS

Dear Ed

I'm really surprised not to find an article relating to the proposed new licensing hours for the Hawkinge Cricket Club. These were published in the Herald last week.

The Cricket Club want to extend their drinking hours. They have requested extended hours every night with drinking ending at 1.00am from Wednesday to Saturday night and 11.45pm on other nights.

There has been no thought given to the residents of Cricketers Close or Underwood who are understandably upset by these proposals. We have regularly suffered from late night disturbances coming from the Club which will only be made worse by these proposals.

The residents are fighting back, letters are being sent to Shepway District Council, we are not prepared to have our usually peaceful and child friendly environment ruined by excessive alcohol consumption and late night revelling.
