PARISH COUNCIL PULL OUT TO MAKE SAVINGS

Hawkinge Parish councillors have voted not to renew their membership of the Kent Association of Parish Councils (KAPC).

At the Parish Council meeting on 13 July councillors had invited Rodney Williamson, County Secretary of KAPC to speak on the function of the association.

He explained the purpose and the benefits of membership but  parish councillors were not convinced the benefits outweighed the cost of the subscription.

The council has subsequently withdrawn from the KAPC and savings of some £800 a year are envisaged.
