QUEEN'S VISIT TO DOVER

Her Majesty the Queen will be visiting Dover on Wednesday 20 July to officially open the new Berths at the Port.

As part of the visit to the port and the town, Her Majesty will be visiting Dover Museum's internationally acclaimed Bronze Age Boat Gallery. She will be greeted at the Museum by the Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports, Admiral Lord Boyce, the Chairman of Dover District Council, the Chief Executive of Dover District Council, and the Mayors of the Cinque Ports.

She will meeting guests including Bronze Age Boat Trustees, and pupils from Barton Junior School, who will be undertaking project work in the Gallery during her visit.

Chairman of Dover District Council, Councillor Pat Heath said: 'It is a great honour to be able to welcome Her Majesty The Queen to the town and the district, and we are delighted to have this chance to acquaint Her Majesty with one of Dover's most important historic assets.'

The Queen is expected to be arriving at the Museum by late morning. Although the Museum will be closed to the public, there will be opportunities for people to welcome Her Majesty in the town at the Market Square and at the Dover Watersports Centre on the seafront.
